John Williams is a film music composer who has revolutionised the genre accross the generations. We can all easily hum these tunes that sound so familiar from Star Wars to Harry Potter, to Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park or E.T.. It is in fact for instance, hard to imagine Darth Vader make its glorious entrance without his famous musical theme.
The most Oscar-nominated person, John Williams has been director Steven Spielberg collaborator for 45 years and the composer for almost all of his pictures. I personally belive that film music is not just a harmonic accompaniment to the film, it plays a key role to enhance the film and amplify and enrich our emotions while watching a movie.
I wanted to represent the magic of film music, with an excerpt from Steven’s Spielberg’s speech at the AFI Life Achivement Awards ceremony honouring the career and person of John Williams, his “lifelong friend and colleague”.
